Independent Coffee Festival 2017

Following the success of its first edition last year, on 5 and 6 May, the Independent Barcelona Coffee Festival returns to promote specialty coffee culture.

In 2017, it comes back with more force and the participation of the cafes and roasters that bet by the art of the coffee in Barcelona and in more cities of the rest of Spain, as well as of several guests of Europe. On Saturday May 6, coinciding with Poblenou Open Day, last year's formula will be repeated with a big event in Espacio 88, open to anyone curious about this new coffee movement. In Espacio 88, in addition to being able to taste the coffee of the best roasters in Spain all day long, workshops have been scheduled to be given by invited European bartenders such as Joke De Coninck from Caffènation (Antwerp), talks by coffee producers Such as Rodolfo Ruffatti Batlle (El Salvador) and activities that will involve some of the main players in the local gastronomic artisan scene.

The day will feature music, food, craft beers, natural wines and, of course, coffee continuously throughout the day.

Another of the great novelties of this edition is the commitment to a day dedicated exclusively to professionals linked to the specialty coffee industry. On Friday, May 5, the festival has programmed all kinds of activities, talks and workshops aimed at owners of coffee shops, baristas, toasters and enthusiasts with a high interest in coffee and who want to delve more into some issues such as how it affects Degree of coffee grinding to the extraction, the importance of the water or tanks calibrated by some of the importers of more recognition worldwide like Nordic Approach or 32cup.
